Field trip
Went on some battllefield field trip thingy this afternoon. Our tour guide has a really cute name: Tucker. Reminds me of the cat character from the Busy Town series which I loved as a little kid. Parents are coming up with more and more weird names for their kids these days. Just yesterday, I came across the name 'Rice Loh' in an advertisment. What'll parents be thinking of next, Frankenstein?Anyway, the trip was okay I guess. The only drawbacks were Tucker's monotonous droning about the Japanese invasion and spending too little time at the places we visited. I like the Lim Chu Kang area which is near the Sarimbun camp. It's got a country feel to it with all its flower shops, grassy fields and fish rearing farms and is almost devoid of civilisation. Nice. Kranji war memorial was great too. Shyan Juang and I were shocked to learn that men as young as 18 helped to fight the invading Japanese (according to some of the gravestones) Tried as I might, I could not locate Liutenant Adnan Bin Saidi's gravestone. But no matter, I still had a good time reading names off the hundreds of gravestones there. After that, we went to some place which I forgot the name and Labrador Park. The casement at Labrador Park was kinda spooky:)STOOPID GIT LOW SHYAN JUANG......KEEPS TAKING MY STUFF AND MAKING ME CHASE HER IN ORDER TO GET THEM BACK. I'M STARTING TO GET A LITTLE IRRITATED......DO I HAVE TO THREATEN TO TAKE AWAY YOUR STUFF FOR GOOD IN ORDER TO GET MINE BACK?!WAIT TILL I GET HOLD OF HER EZ LINK CARD AND FLASH AROUND FOR EVERYONE TO SEE......OH, SHE LOOKS SO DAMN FUNNY IN IT!
If there's one thing that would really help in boosting my grades, it would be having good time management skills. And getting my priorities right. At least my life isn't as messy as last year, where play always comes before work and I couldn't be bothered to jot down the day's homework. This year, I pay 99% attention in class, note down all the homework I have to do, set aside time for revision everyday and spent at most 45mins on the computer surfing for manga. An improvement, yes, but my life is still a little messy and disorganized. This should call for more self-control.

Flag day
8.30am Reached World Trade Centre. Tried to locate Lobby C, where we were supposed to assemble. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be but there was this ferry terminal for Bintan and Batam! Felt uneasy about waiting for the others there all by myself and quickly left. Saw Shyan Juang, Fasihah, Sharyl and some other classmates at McDonalds' and joined them.
9am Went to collect tins, stickers and licence. Decided to go around with Hui Juan and Petrina.
9.05am~11.30pm Toiled in the heat with Hui Juan, asking people if they would like to donate some money. Petrina probably couldn't stand the humidity, warm weather and heat from the nearby hawker centre and carpark so she went into the building. I would go in too, if my eczyma aggravates, but strangely, it didn't. Maybe it was because I was too preoccupied asking for donations. I would classify the many people I approached into four groups:
- The true givers~ Approached me instead of the other way round and to donate money. Mainly old men or the shipyard workers.
- The givers~ Stopped to donate when I asked them.
- The so-sos~ Refused to donate but at least indicated that they didn't want to by shaking their heads, muttering 'no thank you', holding upa hand etc.
- The plain rudes~ Bloody idiots. Treated me as though I was part of the wall when I approached them. Pretended I was invisible. Damn them all.
Had lunch at the hawker centre with Hui Juan. I had chicken rice while she ate Fried Kway Teow.
12pm Finished up all stickers!
12pm~12.15pm Hunted for a present for Chrysilla. It's another one of Mr M's zany ideas~everyone to buy a Chinese New Year gift for each other. I landed with Chrysilla. At first the difficulty was wondering what she might like. I finally decided to get her something spunky and gangster-like. Then, a new problem surfaced. How was I to find something that costs at least $5? That's the criteria for the gifts we were to buy. That mad git, Mr M. It's the thought that counts, and not the bloody cost! Hui Juan suggested getting a couple of punk rings that would add up to above $5. So that's what I did.
12.20pm WEIXUE, CHARLENE AND MADELINE CAME ALONG! Haha, good to see u guys. We chatted for a while and then they went back to Central Square. Geez, was my tin really that heavy? It feels okay to me. Probably because I had grown accustomed to carrying it around with me for so long.
1.50pm Hui Juan, Petrina and I decided to return our tins. Waited at McDonalds' for Mum who had a meeting at Sentosa. So much for Flag Day.
